Rock and Roll
Someone mentioned
somewhere that they think Rock and Roll Music is the tool of Satan to get young
people to join cults and to go to the Devil and eventually to hell.
I don't think that is a
true statement. They used examples such as Ozzie Osborn and him claiming that
he is "The Dark Lord". Well I have to question that in itself because
if one calls himself Jesus and advertises so, does that make that person really Jesus? I know
a Cult Leader who does think so and that is Charles Manson.
Not all Rock and Roll
lyrics are geared to "taking young souls".. I first heard of that phrase when
Elvis came on the scene. Some things never change!
Do they also group all
the Christian Rock and Roll Music in their prejudiced groups too. There are
many of those too.
There are a few other
video's below that are about Jesus and they are Rock and Roll. Take a
listen to them if you will. If I can find the lyrics I will post them here as well for those
who do not have fast Internet service or would like to just read what the song
says for themselves.
Then you have the
famous heater production in the 70's, Jesus Christ Superstar. I will put
some of those video's down below too for your listening pleasure.
Not one of these video's and songs tell
about going to hell or even mention anything of the sort. Throwing all
music into one category and saying that the whole lot is Satanic, is just
ridiculous and a Fear Mechanism to keep people into these "Cults."
Red Hot Chile Peppers
-- A Rock and Roll Band
Some who prejudge
bands of Rock and Roll will think this is about something sinister, but if they
really sit down and listen to the music and lyrics they will find it much
different. This goes to say that not ALL and a majority of it is not Satan
Worshipping.
What I got - Lyrics
What I've got you've got to give it to your
mamma
What I've got you've got to give it to your pappa
What I've got you've
got to give it to your daughter
You do a little dance and then you drink a little
water
What I've got you've got to get it put it in you
What I've got you've got
to get it put it in you
What I've got you've got to get it put it in you
Reeling with the feeling don't stop continue
Realize I don't want to be a miser
Confide w/sly you'll be the wiser
Young blood is the lovin' upriser
How come
everybody wanna keep it like the kaiser
[Chorus] Give it away give it away give
it away give it away now
Give it away give it away give it away give it away
now
Give it away give it away give it away give it away now
I can't tell if I'm
a kingpin or a pauper
Greedy little people in a sea of distress
Keep your more
to receive your less
Unimpressed by material excess
Love is free love me say
hell yes
I'm a low brow but I rock a little know how
No time for the piggies or
the hoosegow
Get smart get down with the pow wow
Never been a better time than
right now
Bob
Marley poet and a
prophet
Bob Marley taught me how to off it
Bob Marley walkin' like he talk it
Goodness me can't you see I'm gonna cough it
[Chorus] Lucky me swimmin' in my
ability
Dancin' down on life with agility
Come and drink it up from my
fertility
Blessed with a bucket of lucky mobility
My mom I love her 'cause she love
me
Long gone are the times when she scrub me
Feelin' good my brother gonna hug
me
Drink my juice young love chug-a-lug me
There's a river born to be a giver
Keep you warm won't let you shiver
His heart is never gonna wither
Come on
everybody time to deliver
[Chorus] [repeat first verse]
Metallica
Metallica--A Rock and
Roll Band
Now some will say that
this is really Hard Rock, but Rock is Rock and Roll. This Band does a lot of
music geared to establishment and governments and their disgrace. Here is just
one example of their song
ONE - Lyrics
I can't remember anything
Can't tell if this
is true or a dream
Deep down inside I feel to scream
This terrible silence
stops in me
Now that the war is through with me
I'm waking up, I cannot see
That there is not much left of me
Nothing is real but pain now
Hold my breath
as I wish for death
Back in the womb it's much too real
In pumps life that I must feel
But can't look forward to reveal
Look to the
time when I live
Fed through the tube that sticks in me
Just like a wartime
novelty.
Tied to machines that make me be
Cut this life off from me
Hold my
breath as I wish for death
Oh please God, wake me
Now the world is gone I'm
just one
Oh God, help me hold my breath
as I wish for death
Oh please God, help
me
Darkness imprisoning me
All that I see Absolute horror I cannot live I
cannot die
Trapped in myself
Body my holding cell
Taken my speech T
aken my
hearing
Taken my arms
Taken my legs
Taken my soul
Left me with life in hell
Obviously the are
misled, because this is a song about Jesus
Norman Greenbaum -
Spirit in the Sky Lyrics
When I die and they lay me to rest
Gonna go to the place that's the best
When I lay me down to die
Goin' up to the spirit in the sky
Goin' up to the spirit in the sky
That's where I'm gonna go when I die
When I die and they lay me to rest
Gonna go to the place that's the best
Prepare yourself you know it's a must
Gotta have a friend in Jesus
So you know that when you die
He's gonna recommend you
To the spirit in the sky
Gonna recommend you
To the spirit in the sky
That's where you're gonna go when you die
When you die and they lay you to rest
You're gonna go to the place that's the best
Never been a sinner I never sinned
I got a friend in Jesus
So you know that when I die
He's gonna set me up with
The spirit in the sky
Oh set me up with the spirit in the sky
That's where I'm gonna go when I die
When I die and they lay me to rest
I'm gonna go to the place that's the best
Go to the place that's the best
This is another song
abut Jesus and it is Rock and Roll
Jesus is Just Alright
- Doobie Brothers
A. Reynolds
Jesus is just alright with me, Jesus is just alright, oh yeah
Jesus is just alright with me, Jesus is just alright
I don't care what they may say
I don't care what they may do
I don't care what they may say
Jesus is just alright, oh yeah
Jesus is just alright
Jesus is just alright with me, Jesus is just alright, oh yeah
Jesus is just alright with me, Jesus is just alright
I don't care what they may know
I don't care where they may go
I don't care what they may know
Jesus is just alright, oh yeah
Jesus, he's my friend; Jesus, he's my friend
He took me by the hand; Led me far from this land
Jesus, he's my friend
Jesus is just alright with me, Jesus is just alright, oh yeah
Jesus is just alright with me, Jesus is just alright
I don't care what they may say, I don't care what they may do
I don't care what they may say, Jesus is just alright, oh yeah
I Don't Know How To
Love Him - Jesus Christ Superstar
Jesus Christ Superstar
-
I don't Know How To Love Him
MARY MAGDALENE
I don't know how to love him.
What to do, how to move him.
I've been changed, yes really changed.
In these past few days, when I've seen myself,
I seem like someone else.
I don't know how to take this.
I don't see why he moves me.
He's a man. He's just a man.
And I've had so many men before,
In very many ways,
He's just one more.
Should I bring him down?
Should I scream and shout?
Should I speak of love,
Let my feelings out?
I never thought I'd come to this.
What's it all about?
Don't you think it's rather funny,
I should be in this position.
I'm the one who's always been
So calm, so cool, no lover's fool,
Running every show.
He scares me so.
I never thought I'd come to this.
What's it all about?
Yet, if he said he loved me,
I'd be lost. I'd be frightened.
I couldn't cope, just couldn't cope.
I'd turn my head. I'd back away.
I wouldn't want to know.
He scares me so.
I want him so.
I love him so.
Third Day--Yes a Rock
Band - Cry Out To Jesus
Third Day
THIRD
DAY LYRICS
"Cry Out To Jesus"
To everyone who's lost
someone they love
Long before it was their time
You feel like the days you had were not enough
when you said goodbye
And to all of the people with burdens and pains
Keeping you back from your life
You believe that there's nothing and there is no one
Who can make it right
There is hope for the helpless
Rest for the weary
Love for the broken heart
There is grace and forgiveness
Mercy and healing
He'll meet you wherever you are
Cry out to Jesus, Cry out to Jesus
For the marriage that's struggling just to hang on
They lost all of their faith in love
They've done all they can to make it right again
Still it's not enough
For the ones who can't break the addictions and chains
You try to give up but you come back again
Just remember that you're not alone in your shame
And your suffering
When your lonely
And it feels like the whole world is falling on you
You just reach out, you just cry out to Jesus
Cry to Jesus
To the widow who suffers from being alone
Wiping the tears from her eyes
For the children around the world without a home
Say a prayer tonight
Awesome God
Hillsong United
Awesome God Lyrics
When He rolls up His sleeves
He ain't just puttin' on the ritz
(our God is an awesome God)
There is thunder in His footsteps
And lightning in His fist
(our God is an awesome God)
Well, the Lord wasn't joking
When He kicked 'em out of Eden
It wasn't for no reason that He shed his blood
His return is very close and so you better be believing
that our God is an awesome God
REFRAIN
Our God(our God) is an awesome God
He reigns(He reigns) from heaven above
With wisdom(with wisdom) pow'r and love
our God is an awesome God
And when the sky was starless in the void of the night
(our God is an awesome God)
He spoke into the darkness and created the light
(our God is an awesome God)
Judgment and wrath he poured out on Sodom
Mercy and grace He gave us at the cross
I hope that we have not too quickly forgotten that
our God is an awesome God
Refrain x3
Our God is an awesome God
Our God is an awesome God
(Our God is an awesome God)
(Our God is an awesome God)
Loosing My Religion
--REM
Losing My Religion
Lyrics
Oh, life is bigger
It's bigger than you
And you are not me
The lengths that I will go to
The distance in your eyes
Oh no, I've said too much
I set it up
(chorus)
That's me in the corner
That's me in the spotlight, I'm
Losing my religion
Trying to keep up with you
And I don't know if I can do it
Oh no, I've said too much
I haven't said enough
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try
Every whisper
Of every waking hour I'm
Choosing my confessions
Trying to keep an eye on you
Like a hurt lost and blinded fool, fool
Oh no, I've said too much
I set it up
Consider this
Consider this
The hint of the century
Consider this
The slip that brought me
To my knees failed
What if all these fantasies
Come flailing around
Now I've said too much
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try
But that was just a dream
That was just a dream
(repeat chorus)
But that was just a dream
Try, cry, why try?
That was just a dream
Just a dream, just a dream
Dream
Comments From My Hub
Some Comments from others that I had gotten when this was posted on Hubpages:
"Music can touch our
soul in different ways, it depends on who is listening. I do not think that it
the the Devils tool.
Have you heard of
Hillsong United? It's one of my favorite bands, it is a tool to reach the youth
by playing rock music to worship God. One of there songs is, "One
Way."
Lyrics goes this way:
I lay my life down at
Your feet
Cause You're the only
one I need
I turn to You and You
are always there
In troubled times it's
You I seek
I put You first that's
all I need
I humble all I am all
to You
One way, Jesus
You're the only one
that I could live for
One Way, Jesus
You're the only one
that I could live for
You are always, always
there
Every how and
everywhere
Your grace abounds so
deeply within me
You will never ever
change
Yesterday today the
same
Forever till forever
meets no end
You are the Way the
Truth and the Life
We live by faith and
not by sight for You
We're living all for
You"
"I just thought of a lyric
and act that would come under great criticism by people who claim this: Arthur
Brown's Fire in which he says "I am the god of Hell-fire and I bring you
fire..."
I met Arthur at
Glastonbury and had a long chat with him and he's a lovely man and a brilliant
entertainer. Personally I don't believe in Hell. It's a fear factor to get
people to obey dogma!
Also, want to add that
what rock stars sing and do on stage is an act and an image and does not
necessarily reflect them at all - they are entertainers after all.
Having said that, I am
sure music does have a hold over fans and influences decisions and fans of an
act who openly support a religion or cult are likely to join what their heroes
are in. This used to happen a lot at the end of the 60s when the Beatles and
many other stars were into Transcendental Meditation, gurus and the Hare
Krishna Temple."
"LG- I was shocked when
I saw 18% believe that Rock and Roll is the tool of satan. It is up to the
individual at what point in their life they want to take to spiritual path. I
once mentioned the John Lenon Song Imagine and was told it is preaching a
communist agenda. I guess people want to put things in straight jackets. But in
reality we shouldn't try to confine everything into our narrow view of looking
at things purely from a black or white perspective. Good thought provoking hub."
"Hi Lady G, I for one
listen to nothing but soft, medium, and hard rock and love it. I know that the
ones you have listed are not my type of music, but i do love Black Sabath, not
all of their music but most, and do not want to worship the Satan. I listen to
music to feel good and get up and move, i love Areosmith, Kansas, Styx, Queen,
Led Zephlin, Richie Blackmoore, Deep Purple, Robin Trower, Super Tramp, Rush
just to name a few. All of these groups are great with a lot of wonderful music
that gets your blood going. If there is any music that the Lord of Darkness
loves, it would be Country music, with all of it's "gloom, dispare, and
agony on me, deep dark depression, excessive misery, if wern't for bad luck i'd
have no luck at all, gloom, dispare, and agony on me". That sums up
Country music "with a tear in my beer", Satan just loves us being
unhappy, wollowing in self pitty, depressed, crying over the past, if i, had i,
should have, could have, would have, and cursing the day we were born. I know
there are a lot of people who listen to Country music, and i am sorry if i have
offended you, because i have a lot of friends who listen to it too (I am in
Alabama) but they like me just the same, and we meet on common grounds when we
listen to music (no Country, no Rock) just good music. Lady G I think that your
Hub was really good and will view more of your Hubs (sorry i got off on a
spree)."
"It's just that any
music can be counted down to four. Evry musical note is a walking note. It's
just time against musical pitch. How can you associate it with Satan? or Jesus?
It's got nothing to do with it. Businesswise, it sells and there goes
propagandas in the business war and that's what really is all about."
